About me
I was introduced to Theatre of the Oppressed nearly 30 years ago and then really dove into both pedagogy and TO during grad school in 2009, and have been a practitioner ever since. Below is a bio.
Rachael brings more than 20 years experience and a dynamic style to igniting our social imagination with the power of the arts and dialogue. As a founder of Creative Strategies for Change, she specializes in applied theatre, popular education, and restorative practices. Currently a theatre and social justice professor at Metropolitan State University of Denver, she has presented at a range of venues including TEDx, Americans for the Arts, the Pedagogy and Theatre of the Oppressed Conference, and 48 Hours of Socially Engaged Art. She also contributed to the publication How to Become an Anti-Racist Organization, and served on the Colorado Health Foundation Equity and Justice Advisory Committee. She earned an MA from NYU where she received the Nia award for outstanding work in the arts and social justice. Rachael finds magic in the mess and endless joy romping in the wild with Ruthie the pup.
